Tar Snake Hot

Sun. Wind. Humidity. Heat.

90 degrees with a feels-like heat index of 98 as I took to the road today for a little exercise.

It's the kind of heat that makes you pay attention to tar snakes, those patches of tar on the roads.

That tar gets a little mushy and soft in these kinds of conditions and if you ride on them in the same direction it can throw the bike out of whack.

Since I did get up at three in the morning today, but the time I rolled out at 1:00 I already had a full day in.

After eight laps of my neighborhood crit course I could feel my lips starting to get a little crispy. I had forgotten to apply my sun blocking lip balm. I was tired and actually, hold on, feeling a little warm. So I decided to get off the road and into a cool shower which sure was refreshing today. A scorcher.
