"Spin & Win"
When most sports fans here that phase it brings to mind Indy race car driver Danny Sullivan and his infamous 'spin and win' victory at the Indy 500 when he spun completely around and still ended up winning the race.
Today, as I finally gave riding on my injured leg a try, I neither spun nor won anything. However, I told myself to just spin and that way I win. I'm at least riding.
So that is what I did. No gearing mattered. No speed mattered. All I did was spin, at about 85-90 rpm and I was able to get in 22 miles in my neck of the woods, staying close to home in case the leg were to give out.
It still hurts. Still. It has been over a month now. But I CAN ride if I take it easy. It comes and goes over the miles. At least it was nice and warm, and I think that helps.
Frustration level is high considering all the nice hot, sunny weather we have been having. It feels super odd to not be out there enjoying the miles on the road. But alas, as my doctor told me at my annual checkup last week, the only medicine for this is rest, and lots of it.
Great.
By winter I should be all set to go nowhere!
