Hot Stuff
This was the hottest weather of the season.
It was 87 degrees with a heat index of 94 when I rolled out at high noon.
Just about perfect in my opinion.
Actually, I never even felt hot. The very same lake breeze off Winnebago that kept me cool all spring (cold) was just perfect today.
The old groin injury isn't going anywhere after a year now. I must have torn something. It just always bothers me. At some point I will be backed into a corner enough that I will go in and get it checked I guess, but I'm not there yet.
So I just took it easy today, enjoying the heat and humidity.
On the third lap of the Lake Loop a rider came past me on the left.
I looked over at him.
He looked over at me.
He smiled and said hi as he rode on ahead of me.
I almost fell off my bike. I couldn't believe "That Guy" said hello to me!
But on further review, the more I thought about it the more I figured that was NOT the crabby guy from my neighborhood who never says anything out there on the road when we meet.
I didn't recognize the road bike he was on. And the more I thought about it the more I think that this guy was a little shorter than the crabby guy as well. Nope. I am saying it wasn't him. The 'Hi' should have been the tip off.
So the heat and humidity felt good. As half the rider I used to be I still say today, at 25 miles in the heat, was a pretty good day despite the nagging injury.
