Hoped for better

Today was the day.

Today I would test the groin muscle injury for the first time on the bike after a couple of weeks of trying to rest it. Just walking around it felt better. Not 100%, but better. Maybe 70%.

I set out to just go easy over to the Lake Loop route.

I had hoped it would feel better, perhaps even be mostly gone. But what I found was that I could feel a pinch of pain on every pedal stroke. Nothing sharp or serious mind you, but a pinch of uncomfortable dull pain, the kind that lets you know on every top half of the pedal stroke that something is wrong down there.

Dammit.

So I just took it easy and completed a couple of laps, hoping that somehow as I warmed up the ride would come to me and it would feel better. But the ride never came to me. That never happened. It just hurt a little every time the pedal went around right up until I called it quits at an even 20 miles in the books.

Nice weather predicted Friday. I had hoped to get out into the countryside on a more normal training ride. But like I said, I hoped for better. We shall see. You have to take your time with sort of thing. Trouble is, summer is oh so short around here. 4th of July already lurking this weekend!
