First Double Bare
Finally, the first ride of the season with both bare arms and legs, and for the first time at 67 degrees I did not feel cold, despite a howling wind.
And what a wind it was.
On lap eight of my neighborhood crit it was blowing into my face so hard on the one little climb of each lap that I could hardly keep pedaling the bike! It was like riding in a wind tunnel I would imagine.
The day began with me watching one of the spring classics, Liege Bastogne Liege. It was a pretty good race. It certainly got me in the mood to ride today.
Still, that was NOT the plan. I was sitting there watching the Milwaukee Bucks take apart the Chicago Bulls in the NBA playoffs and the sun came out. My wife was outside working in the garden, taking advantage of some warm weather before a week of below-average temps hit us.
I grew more and more antsy and filled with guilt about not taking advantage of the opportunity to ride while it was warm outside. Once the Bucks had things in hand in the 4th quarter I paused the game and headed out.
My hamstrings were incredibly tight on this ride. I know it was from Saturday's bending and lifting as I dug that trench for my electrical run to the garage. So being aware that I was stiff, I just took it easy, especially into the wind, which was insane today. Man, I could use a break from that howling sound in my head.
