Chili dog guilt
There I was on a wet, damp, gloomy Sunday afternoon watching The Masters on TV, not even considering a bike workout considering the weather outside my window.
My wife was going to go grocery shopping and we were to cook something for dinner.
Well, down some sort of rabbit hole she went online and she didn't leave for the store until much later than planned. She also didn't get home with the groceries until much later than planned. Obviously, our home-cooked Sunday dinner plan had gone out the window.
As we brought the grocery stores bags into the house she uttered the magic words to me;
"Too late to cook but I think you're gonna like what I brought home."
She was right!
Hot dogs. She came home with a package of hot dogs, some fancy and delicious-looking brioche hot dog buns and a can of chili.
This is quite hilarious, because I love hot dogs but I do not eat them much any longer. She frowns on it...bad for my health and all that jazz. So there are RARELY hot dogs in our house.
I wolfed down the first one, then realized we had some shredded cheese in the fridge so the second one was actually a chili-cheese dog! Then for lunch today I had two more. Hey, ya gotta eat 'em and not waste food!
So when a little sun broke through a heavy cloud cover today in the afternoon, I decided to just go out and burn off some the calories from this binge of goodness. Chili dog guilt.
Only 55 degrees with a stiff little 10-15 wind too. Yet when the sun was out I felt fine turning laps along the lakeshore. But I lost the sun on lap seven, so I pulled off after eight laps, having lost interest in general at that point.
Man, sunshine makes all the difference in the world, both in physical feeling and mental happiness in general on a bike.
Hey, it's still better than being inside on a trainer!
