Cake Guilt
Rare Sunday morning ride, and here are a couple of reasons why, starting with cake guilt.
Last night I was watching the Duke-NC game and decided that I would eat a slab of birthday cake that my wife had brought home from a family gathering she was at in Green Bay earlier in the day.
This is a problem I have had with food for a long time. I use it as a reward of sorts. Yes indeed, it's my weekend and by God I am going to enjoy CAKE while watching this game before I go to bed. Funny thing is, as excited as I was to splurge and eat that slab of cake (frosting and all) I regretted it almost as soon as I finished. It really wasn't that good anyway, and I certainly wasn't hungry for cake or anything like that. Big mistake. It sat there in my gut as if I had just swallowed a bowling ball. Bad move.
So today I told myself no matter how cold it might feel, at least the roads are dry, so I was going to force myself to get out there and burn some of that foolish cake off with a few laps around the neighborhood. Only 41 degrees, sure, but the sun was out as I went upstairs to change and stretch. My plan was to get out there before the clouds bringing SNOW to us overnight would get here.
Nope.
By the time I came downstairs it was all gray and cloudy. Yuk.
Still, I pressed on with a cold ride. I had three layers on top and winter riding pants over knicker bibs with full booties over my shoes.
I rode past a woman running in shorts!
I don't get these people.
