The Streak Lives!
No, not THAT streak!
Back in January of this year, before coronavirus, I had gotten out on the road for a few miles on my bike.
To my surprise it happened again in February, and that's when I set a goal.
I wondered if I could ride in all 12 months of the calendar year outside.
Now, considering the weather in Wisconsin, that's easier said than done when you think about not only the frigid air, but the snow and ice on the roads. Once that hits, you are out of luck.
So today marked the 11th month in a row, and it sure did not feel like November. The temp was 66 when I departed in a hurry late in the afternoon knowing I would be battling a setting sun in about an hour or so.
I set out to do 10 hot laps of my neighborhood crit course, not exactly an easy chore considering I haven't been on the bike for almost a month now! I pushed.
I nailed it.
15.5 average was my reward for pushing through those corners and keeping my rpm and speed up throughout the effort.
Pleased.
Now, will I be able to complete the streak in December?
I guess a lot of that depends on Mother Nature.
