New Route (sort of)

Since two of my main ways out of the city are both blocked by construction, I took a look at a map before my ride today to get an idea of which way I could go to get out of town.

I wrote down some directions that basically made a big rectangle, staying away from both the closed roads.

Rare but it happened.

Out there in the real world the ride matched my map directions perfectly. All went as planned and I ended up doing a construction-free 30 miles along a new stretch of road with a great view.

Many of the roads I have been on before, but the one I used as the far end of the rectangle on the turnaround I had never been on before. Here is the view I stopped to take on a road called Woodland.

Sure is pretty.

The ride provided a few climbs along the way as well, but mostly it is just pretty and VERY quiet country roads with hardly a vehicle to be seen or heard for miles other than the occasional tractor out in the fields.

Speaking of which, I had my first ear of Wisconsin sweet corn today prior to this ride as part of my lunch. The truck had just pulled up from the farm and they dumped a ton of it off at the farmers market this morning. It was delicious.

Legs felt good today. Solid ride with some climbing. I'm calling this new 30-miler the Woodland Loop, and yes, I'll be doing it again!
