Hot Cyclist

So today I could consider myself a hot cyclist.

Because I was riding my bike, and it was hot out.

Real hot.

The story of this ride was the 'feels like' temp of almost 100 degrees, which was some record stuff for NE Wisconsin on this date in early June.

95 degrees with a dewpoint of nearly 70.

Yeah, it was hot.

But in MY book, these were near-perfect conditions. I could have done with a little less wind if you want to talk about perfection.

Still, it was fantastic to feel this heat. This must be what it's like to ride in Florida most days! Man, that's a tempting move for sure for me. I'd be right at home in the heat and humidity.

Anyway, I took a picture of a little walking path at my turnaround point in the Lake Loop route. I had never been on that path before. But the picture turned out to be nothing more than a black screen for some reason, so you will just have to trust me when I say it's a cute little path around a retention pond with a couple of fountains in it.

The turnaround area is called Conservancy Park. I'll use that little path there from now on as a wooded respite from the road as I turn to head back toward home.

I cut the ride a little short today, not because of the heat, but because I received a phone call that I had to take. The car repair shop called to let me know they can't fix what's wrong with it....that it will have to go to the dreaded dealer to be corrected.

So with that on my mind and needing to drive to get the car back, it was time to move from the bike to the shower so that I could take care of business.

But at least I got a taste of my beloved heat and humidity out there, leaving in the dead of the afternoon at 2:15 under brilliant sun, the kind that leaves those tar snakes soft in the road. Watch out for them....hit 'em wrong and the bike can go all squirrely on you.
