Windy
No doubt the feature of today's ride was wind.
Lots and lots of wind.
At a steady 20-25 mph, there was a twist to the wind today as well. It was coming the opposite direction of how it usually blows on this neighborhood crit course route.
That meant drinking in a different spot in the lap, when the headwind turned into a tailwind, making that portion of the lap easy as pie. On the long, flat stretch at the start of each lap however, I was in the drops tucked as aero as I could be until I could finally get to my right turn when there was some relief from the howling in my head.
Of course once again the sun had been out, but was totally gone by the time I hit the road, making for another dark, dank and rather chilly day on the road. But I'm not complaining despite the weather conditions. I felt good on the bike today, getting some much-needed exercise and fresh air.
As my mentor Jerry noted to me recently after reading my rising post, it shouldn't be a chore to ride. He's right! (again)
