Autumn officially arrived on the calendar today, and to mark the occasion I actually wore a light jacket on my ride today.
Not that I really needed it, but with the wind I kind of did. If you don't know by now, I am a cold weather weenie. I like it warm. No, HOT.
So to me, there was almost a chill in the windy air this afternoon.
One way to not face a headwind for a long stretch is to turn a lot, which is why I decided to just do some laps in the neighborhood today.
It's sort of like people watching when you go around and around. You end up seeing a lot of 'regulars' in the neighborhood.
The best one today was not a regular. The best character I saw of several was a young boy on his bike riding down the street toward me as I made a right turn. He immediately gave me a big old wave with a smile the size of a piece of watermelon on his face.
Of course, as a fellow cyclist, I waved right back at him.
Another note from this ride...
I officially went over a 1,000 miles for the season. It still sounds rather impressive to people I tell who are not riders, but I know better. It's about a third of what I used to ride year after year.
Still, it's 1,002 miles and counting this autumn season.
