Boy did that lake look inviting at the end of my ride today.
I should have just kept going straight and right into the water to cool off because it was a hot one today!
The thermometer said 87 degrees, but it was the wind that took the life out of my legs on the way back. I went out with the idea of checking to see if Manitowoc Rd. had been finished and opened to traffic so that I could attempt the climb at High Cliff State Park.
I found out that it is still closed, and I refuse to take 114 out there because it's just too busy and too dangerous for my taste. So I had to walk the bike over a couple of sections of gravel in the road, but then that lead me to great road in the woods with newer blacktop paving the way. Too bad it dead-ended too soon for me.
Back I went, for eight miles into a gusting 15+ mph headwind. That's a death sentence for legs on a hot day.
So no big climbing challenge on this the day I rode in my kit that I bought at a bike shop in Paris years ago to mark today's winning of the Tour de France by a Columbian kid just 22 years old.
