Bad Habits

2019 Outdoor Season: Ride #21

The Route: Lake Laps, 2

The Time: 1:07

The Ave. Speed: 14.3 mph

The Weather: Sunny and warm, 84, Wind 5-10 mph

Season Total Miles: 425.0

The good news here is that I have ridden three days in a row now, something that has not happened very often this season thus far.

The bad news, I guess, is that I noticed two bad habits that have creeped back into my riding style. At least I am aware of them and have been trying to make corrections. I thought I would share the info here today.

1) I'm 'settling' for an rpm that is too low from where I should be. I look down at the computer and I see something from 75-80 rpm at a comfy pace. Wrong.

I like to be in the mid 80's to 90 rpm for steady tempo riding. So I have to remind myself to pick up the rpm's from time to time and not get lazy (and slower) about that.

2) I'm looking out at the road too close to the front of my bike. I need to be looking farther ahead as I ride so that I am aware of what the road conditions are ahead of me.

These are just sloppy little things that start happening when you do not ride as much as you used to.

Hot one today.

No complaints here.
