The Story
I blame it all, everything, on the wind!
True, I DID get lost on this ride, touring an area no more than 10 miles from my home on roads I have ridden on now for over five years. Yet if you know only one thing about me know that I can get lost at the drop of a hat.
I blame the wind.
As I was heading out on one of my usual routes to the west I was quickly growing tired of the effort it was taking to go into a steady head wind. So I figured I would not only turn early, I would turn the opposite way from what I would normally do, just to get some rest with a tailwind.
What followed, somehow, was a nice tour of some beautiful homes in a subdivision I had never been to before. You know how those roads go. Twisting and turning and twisting again I was spun around and lost in no time.
See, I told you. It was the fault of the wind.
I even turned to the GPS lady on Google Maps on my phone at one point, but she too was lost....as in lost signal. Her directions, as usual, were goofy anyway. I had to find my own way out the mess I created.
Usually I don't mind being lost. It's all part of the adventure. But today with the wind really bothering me I was in no mood to further explore the unexplored.
Anyway, in the end I go over 200 miles on the road for the young season.
But I'm sick and tired of feeling cold on the bike.
I'm sick and tired of wind in my ears.
Oh what I would give right now for a hot, humid day with no wind! I guess that's a ways out there yet. The forecast for Saturday is for a high of only 43 with a chance of flurries.
