The Story

As you can see from the picture, today marked the first need to use sun block, as Monday had more sun, more warmth, more wind than Sunday did. Today was my first ride of 2019 with bare legs and arms, although the arms didn't start that way. I grabbed arm warmers on the way out and boy I was glad I had them as I rode the first half into a steady headwind. The warmers came down on the second half of the ride.

One of the great mysteries of life to me is how calm the wind seems when the ride is over and you are standing in your driveway. But out there on an open country road with nothing to block the wind it seems a whole lot worse.

By the end of this ride I was sick and tired of the sound of wind in my ears as it sucked the life out of my legs.

The name of this route is an obvious choice, since the right turn at the halfway mark is onto a road that's actually called North Loop.

Outside of two struggles up long hills into the wind, this is was a day to simply take in some sun and enjoy the freakishly-nice taste of spring. It will be all too fleeting, as the forecast says we are in for snow later this week. I guess it might be an 8" winter wonderland around here.

Gee, I can hardly wait.
