The Story

It looked warmer out than it felt. Let's just put it that way. Once again I cut short the number of laps I intended to do (10) due to the cold conditions. I just can not warm up.

Also today, my butt was killing me in the final couple laps. Part of that is the fact that I took out the old backup bike today after having ridden my primary road bike the last time I was out. That black Selle Italia model you see there above on my old Klein is a hard saddle. But the thing is, once you are used to it, that is my favorite saddle.

This white saddle is the one on my primary Specialized bike. This saddle has a little more to it than the other one, but I think the difference between the two set my sit bones off today. It was uncomfortable. And between a sore butt, a runny nose, cold feet....well, this cold-weather weenie had enough after eight laps.

The two bikes are very different as well. The old Klein is like a four-door luxury sedan, built more for comfort with a softer ride and more upright riding position. The Roubaix is more like a two-seater sports car with a more aggressive riding position.

Once the roads are cleaner I'll switch to the Specialized only. But for now things are still pretty messy out there.
