Strong start to Week 3.....

The Story

With snow flurries falling outside the window that my trainer bike is pointed toward, I set out to put in a strong workout as the first of at least three rides during 'Weigh-In Wednesday' week three.

I promised on my PhilCast show that I would do at least one Carmichael workout, so I figured why not try to knock it out first thing?

Not only did I do exactly that, it was a tougher Carmichael than usual. Let me explain.

You see this workout is all about changing up gears and effort levels between three of them; easy, hard, hardest. You do a combo of that for a total of 45 minutes.

Depending on which gear you start in it's going to dictate how hard those 'hardest' level efforts are going to be.

Today, about three minutes into the warm up time, I realized I had started in one gear harder than usual. I could have downshifted to get it right. But today I thought that I would challenge myself by leaving the gearing right where it was, making this what would no doubt be a challenging Carmichael.

Tough?

You bet.

Satisfying to know I did it like that now that it is over?

Again. You bet!
