The Story

It was 17 years ago today, and that day, like today, was sunny and warm. And on that day, like today 17 years later, I was riding my bike while the attacks in the sky were being carried out.

Today was a challenge from the start, despite the beautiful late-summer weather. Not a cloud in the sky today as I rode, but my legs were dead from the start.

Headwind all the way back on the second half of the ride, and it sucked what little life I had in me right out of my body.

I tried to just go slow and enjoy the blue sky and sunshine, which I did accomplish for the most part.

I stopped to snap this picture because it almost looks like the first hints of fall color are already creeping in .

The final 4-5 miles were a chore, even with the easy pedal approach. My quads felt like they were one pedal stroke away from locking up in a massive knot on any given block.

Oh well, that's the price you pay for staying away for a while. It hurts getting back into shape.
