The Story
When I have been off the bike for a while I like to ease back into it by riding my neighborhood crit course. That way, by doing laps, if it turns out that feel way off all I have to do is quit and I'm right there close to home, not 10 miles out on some country road.
But today I felt pretty good. It felt good to be back in the saddle and this really was a true neighborhood ride today in my throwback Rainbow Jersey bike shop socks.
A neighborhood is made up of the people who live there, and today I saw several regulars while turning laps.
There was Victoria and her little dog.
There was Junko and her garden.
There was Simon walking his two big dogs.
There was Bridgette in her lounge chair.
Grass cutting girl was out today too, but garden lady on the lake was not. I give them all nicknames.....just some of the regulars that make up the neighborhood.
Some times I wonder what they're thinking when they see me going around and around in circles on my bike. Rather odd, no?
Anyway, here comes August. I visited Cranked Bike Studio today to pick up some gels. Seeing as the plan is for us to stay in town and at home this weekend for the first time in over a month, I'm thinking there might be a challenging and longer ride coming up on Saturday.....90 and sunny did I hear? PERFECT!
But first I have to get a few rides like today into my legs to prepare myself for making a more of an effort come the weekend.
