The Story
If I was a pro rider racing in a week-long stage race in Europe, today would have been one of those recovery day rides, where after a hard effort on the previous stage, you just sort of hide out in the peloton and rest as much as possible.
All I wanted to do was knock a little stiffness out of my legs from yesterday's 30 miles. Just a a spin.
There was a wedding party gathering at one point on my laps, looking to take some pictures with a water background. This has happened to me on this route before.
Only this time it ticked me off. Two cars turned right, as did I. Then the lead one just stopped in the road before turning left where the crowd was gathering. The car behind remained stopped in the road trying to figure out what to do next.
I couldn't pass on the right because of parked cars and people, and trying to pass on the left was out of the question since I figured they would follow the car in front and turn left directly INTO ME!
So I had to stop and unclip in the road. I bet many a rider would have started yelling, and nothing very kind either. I didn't, however I did grumble out loud something to the effect of, "Come on. Are you kidding me?"
People without a clue at the wheel, with no idea about what's going on behind them.
So I knocked the rust out of the legs and am feeling good about going back to back at the end of what those of you with jobs would call the work week.
Note:
I'm starting to rock the Peter Sagan look with the long hair.
To summer cut or not to summer cut...
THAT is the question.
