The Story

Take a good look at that picture.

Do you see any sunshine there?

That's about as ugly an early-spring sky as you can ride under. It wasn't what I expected today.

This morning the weather guy on TV said that gray sky would clear out for the most part by 2:00 in the afternoon and things would warm up to near 50.

Perfect for a quick return to a short ride outside, or so I thought.

I waited until almost 2:00 to head out but it was still all clouds at that time. The day had a very uninspired 50 shades of gray to it.

But I told myself to go out anyway, that the sun will probably burn through during the ride, the temps will go up and I'd feel guilty if I chose NOT to head out in when it was cloudy.

Well, it was a good plan, but it never worked out that way. I was being slapped in the face by a chilling headwind each lap up the one hill on the course.

I never did warm up. There never was a stitch of sunshine. If I was a groundhog on Groundhog Day spring would have been here early 'cause there wasn't a shadow in sight during this entire ride.

Feeling worse and colder each lap, I cut it off from my usual 10 laps, stopping at eight in. I gave up on any sun today and headed for a hot shower.

Yuk.

It's SUPPOSED to be sunny and 50's on Wednesday. Fingers crossed because if it IS, I'll be heading out to try this again then.

Will the weatherman have it right this time?!

The right hot

83 degrees and sunshine. Hot? Sure. But not humid. It was just the right kind of hot, and nothing compared to the 100+ degrees at today's...
