The Story
Back to inside riding as expected today. Last week's first outdoor ride of the season was just a freak of nature, which happens to be throwing us ICE today out there.

So it was back to the trainer today, which in and of itself was a bit of an accomplishment. You see I was on the fence about even suiting up today, feeling more like the weather outside which is dreary and lazy.
But I pushed myself to make the effort just thinking about the fact that all I had done all weekend long was sit around the house watching the Olympics and eating.
It was time for me to get some movement into my life. And it turned out to be a good sweat today.
Let me fill you in on exactly what I do to cure the last ten minutes of cool down blues on this ride.
I cut that in half, cooling down from 35 to the 40 minute mark, at which time I shift up into the medium gear for :30 seconds, then shift up to the hardest gear used in the workout for :30 seconds, then go to an even harder gear after that for :30 seconds.
Then simply gear down one at a time for :30 seconds each until you are back into the easiest gear, the one you started the entire workout in.
It makes the time pass faster than just an easy spin cool down 10 minutes as the original workout calls for.
And if you want to see exactly how the Carmichael breaks down so you too can try it, I have the details posted in an earlier blog entry.
