The Story

At one point while the song "Lights Out" was playing I glanced down at my bike computer, taking a brief moment out of my extraordinary air guitar playing while sitting up in the saddle, to see I was going a steady 25 mph.

By the end of the CD, while listening to a song called "Love to Love", I once again glanced at that computer to see I was cranking out a steady 29 mph.

Welcome to what I call my 'UFO Workout'.

Put this album by the group UFO on and just ride, from the first note to the final note.

I'm not a dancer.

Never have been.

But I have been told that dance instructors try to teach people to just "feel" the music and then let yourself do what the music is telling you.

I believe this same thinking works perfectly while on a bike, spinning through time on trainer because it's raining and 38 degrees outside.

With this UFO workout there are no intervals to complete.

There are no carefully-timed gear changes.

There is no concern about rpm's or average speeds.

Nope.

Just feel the music and ride accordingly from start to finish.

Somehow it works.

As those last notes of the final song on the CD faded away I was drenched in sweat, my heart pounding like a jackhammer.

And as I did some easy-pedal cool down minutes I knew....

This is way better than dancing to the music!
