The Story

So let me ask you a question.

Have you ever been slapped in the face by a crispy autumn leaf while riding at about 15 mph into a 30 mph wind gust?

It stings!

Today was all about the wind. So my strategy going into the ride was to take the crit course, meaning a lot of turns/changes in direction and no one big dose of headwind.

It worked. This was a solid effort ride that topped a 16 mph average despite the wind.

Somehow for a second day in a row I turn to a weak attempt at poetry, this time while I was on the bike going into the wind each lap I was telling myself....

Narrow and aero

Keep low to not go slow

Ain't no sin ridin' into the win (d)

Hey, whatever gets you through the tough stretches, right?

Anyway, it sure felt nice to be riding in short bibs and sleeves this time of year. Heck, this might have been the last one of the season for me, since I'm done riding for the week now.
