The Story

Well, it happened to me again this afternoon.

Once again some bad news broke while I was out on a ride and I got back only to find out that something sad had happened while I was out riding.

It happened to me on thee 9/11 morning.

It happened to me again today when I learned after my ride that Tom Petty had died.

So many good songs.

So many hours of my life spent listening to his work.

So sad, on a day that is already filled with the sadness of the worst mass shooting in the country's history in Las Vegas Sunday night.

Today I was riding just to be riding. No plan. No push on any of the laps. Heck, I just did the same thing less than 24 hours earlier, circling my neighborhood for some exercise.

Today I did it again because I wanted to stay close to the house for some reason. And I added two more laps than usual, to 12 total, because I was literally killing time with nothing else to do this afternoon.

Already in a funk following all the news coming out of Vegas and the shooting, I get off the bike only to go into a deeper funk with the news of the passing of one of my favorite singers/songwriters.

RIP TP
